The Mercado Municipal del Centre de Gavà is small but has a fishmonger, a butcher, a poultry shop and a delicatessen. There is also a bar that offers breakfast and tables available outside in the main square.
On weekends, on Saturdays, local farmers put their produce on sale, using local, fresh and seasonal products.
Opened in 1935 and partially renovated in 1995 and completely renovated in 2010, it currently has about 9 active stops:
-A couple of stalls selling meat products, one for poultry and eggs, a couple more for fish, seafood and salted fish, one for nuts and vegetables, one for charcuterie and sausages, one for salted fish and preserves and finally a bar with a terrace.-
Located in the city centre and in the middle of an ideal space for shopping and walking such as the Illa del Centre, most of the reviews you will find on Google praise it to the skies.
The building of the new Mercado Municipal del Centre stands out for its light and colour. The roof, for example, reinforces the chimney effect and provides natural light inside. The levelling of the interior and exterior floor and the new doors facilitate access and integrate the building with the surroundings of the square.
If you are looking for fresh, quality and local produce, you will find it all at the Mercado Municipal del Centre de Gavà.
If you go there, you will be able to see for yourself that the shopkeepers are friendly and attentive, inclusive and responsible, and that they have a range of healthy products that will leave your shopping bag with no space at all.
And if you can't make it, don't worry, you can still enjoy their products through their new Marketplace.
Municipal markets, a unique form of commerce so deeply rooted in our Mediterranean culture, contribute to improving our eating and consumption habits.
