The Mercat de Sant Joan was inaugurated on a sunny Monday, June 24, 1968.

Summer had just begun and the Mercat opened its doors, with 50 stalls and a bar, so that the residents of Premià could get to know it with all the stalls open, although sales did not begin until the following day, Tuesday.

It was the centre for almost all of the municipality's purchases, especially for fresh produce; the incorporation of women into the labour market was not yet a consolidated reality and housewives came here to do their daily shopping.

For the first 20 years of its existence, the crowds of people who went to the market every day to buy made the aisles narrow.

Like so many other places, the Mercat de Sant Joan experienced a time of great splendor.

However, there is currently some good news, probably linked to the importance that society has begun to give to a healthier diet, to a cuisine based on local and seasonal products:

A new air is blowing through the Mercat, which is experiencing the incorporation of young stallholders eager to get ahead and give the Mercat a new life.

The entry into social networks, as well as the implementation of online sales and home delivery services, are a sign of the revitalization that the Mercat is experiencing.

At the Mercat de Sant Joan you can find the most complete, varied and quality offer: fishmongers, fruit and vegetable stalls, butchers, delicatessens, chicken stalls, 1 sweet stall, cooked food and legumes, bulk organic detergents and cod and olives, as well as the bar.

A highly specialised offer of products from Maresme, which can only convince those who are looking for the best quality for their kitchen.

Spectacular, right? Well, now you can enjoy all their products without leaving home, thanks to their new Marketplace
